Abstract
Strict field experiments on winter wheat cv. Mewa were carried out in the years 2003–2005. Nitrogen fertilization was applied in the form of ammonium nitrate and coated urea at a dose of 120 kg·ha-1. The fertilization dose was divided into three parts and applied in three terms: at the beginning of spring vegetation, at the end of tillering and at the heading stage of plants. Herbicide Secator 6,25 WG was also applied at three terms: in the period of full tillering, at the end of tillering but seven days before application of the second dose of ammonium sulphate or at the end of tillering stage with coated urea and at the end of tillering, but seven days after application of the dose of fertilizer. Depending on the experiment combination, it is possible to obtain a high yield of grain and high weight of 1000 grains, associated with a high content of gluten and protein but simultaneously with lower other quality parameters, or adversely - high grain quality parameters but only average grain yield.
