Abstract
The objective of this study was to compare parametric and non-parametric methods in G × E interaction analysis. Experimental data were from trials conducted in the years 2005–2007 in Lower Silesia at the following locations: Kondratowice, Krościna Mała, Naroczyce, Tarnów Śląski and Tomaszów Bolesławiecki. Twelve rye cultivars: Fernando, Klawo, Konto, Picasso, Stach, Caroass, Agricolo, Amilo, Bosmo, Motto, Rostockie and Słowiańskie were grown at two levels of cultivation (low input and intensive). Stability evaluation was based on parametric methods: linear regression coefficient (bi), variance of the regression deviations (Sdi), Shukla’s stability variance (2i), Wricke’s ecovalence (Wi2) and Hanson’s statistics (Di). Nonparametric methods included two Hühn’s measures (Si1, Si2), Kang’s parameter (RS) and new measure of stability based on homogeneous groups and coefficient of variability. The hybrid cultivars produced higher yield and were more stable than the open-pollinated cultivars. Hybrid Fernando and open-pollinated cultivar Bosmo were found to be most remarkable. The new method proposed is simple and gives measures highly correlated with yield and thus it can be recommended for selection of stable genotypes. According to the new method, Fernando, Picasso and Konto were the most stable hybrid cultivars.
