Identification of QTLs of morphological traits related to lodging of rye (Secale cereale L.)

Abstract

The aim of this study was identification of some morphological traits related to lodging resistance in rye. One hundred F4 lines of Ds2 × RXL10 mapping population were used. Each F4 lines plant was measured in respect to length (SIL) and thickness (SIT) of the second internode. With the use of earliner published data on the plant height (Ph), a lodging coefficient (Lc) was calculated as a ratio between the thickness of the second internode and plant height. Two QTLs for the length, three QTLs for the thickness of the second internode and three QTLs for the lodging coefficient were identified on chromosomes 2R, 3R, 5R, 6R and 7R. A distribution of QTLs on chromosomes indicated that genetic background of the second internode thickness differs from that of the other traits.
