As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.


Plant Breeding and Seed Science
Instructions to Authors
Plant Breeding and Seed Science publishes articles reporting the results of original research, critical reviews and interpretive articles in all field of plant breeding and seed production. Submissions to PB&SS must not be published in or submitted for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts will be referred by two reviewers and published in order of the acceptance. Authors are anonymous from the reviewers and reviewers are from authors. Manuscript, including tables and figures, should not exceed 20 A4 pages (there is about 1600 characters per 1 page including points, commas and spaces). Text should be double spaced, typed on one side only with 4 cm left margins (2,54 cm right, bottom and top margins). Two legible copies and manuscript on disk should be submitted.

Arrangement of the manuscript
The title page of manuscript should include the following: the title, the name(s) of the author(s), the name(s) and the address(es) of the institution(s) where work was done.
Abstract — not exceeding 250 words and Key words (maximum seven) arranged alphabetically. Main text should be normally divided into: introduction, material and methods, results, discussion and conclusions.
Acknowledgements — if any (including grants etc.) must be on a separate page The reference list must be in alphabetical order by the first author. References should include: the author name(s), the year of publication, complete title, abbreviated title of journal, volume number, first and last page. Book references should include, names of all authors, the editor, year, title, publisher and place of publication.

Tables
Each table should be typed on a separate page and their position in the text should be suggested in the margin. Tables should be numbered using Arabic numerals followed by the title. They should be referred to in the text by their number. Vertical rules should not be used.

Figures
Figures should be presented in the form of sharp prints (laser printer) or India ink drawings on the white page. Very thin or light lines and very small characters should be avoided. Photos (only black and white) should be of high contrast and printed on glossy paper. Identify photos on the back with its number and the title of article. Top of photos should be indicated on the back. Figures should be consecutively numbered in Arabic numerals and their position should be indicated in the margin. All legends to figure should be collected on the same separate page.

Other requirements
The International System of Units (SI) and abbreviation is required. Non standard abbreviations should be explained when they first appear in the text. All Latin names should be written in italics. References in the text should contain the name(s) of the author(s) and the year of publication.

Manuscript on disk
Manuscript should be supplied on a computer DOS formatted disk. We prefer Word for Windows software package, but most other word processing formats are acceptable. If you work in Windows system use only standard True Type fonts: Arial, Courier, Times New Roman, Symbol or Wingdings. Do not use the spacebar to align text or format tables — standard wordprocessing features like [TAB], [Center] etc. should be used. Please note that no hyphenation should be used. Proofs will be ones sent to the senior author and must be returned to the publisher within two weeks. Only typographical errors should be corrected. 30 reprints of each article will be sent to authors free of charges.
