Abstract

Possibility of cereals utilization for bioethanol production has been discussed since the beginning of the 20th century and it comes to the fore with every increase in price of petroleum on the world market. Current interest in biothanol as petrol substitute for road transport vehicle is also related to the ecological factors since the chemistry of ethanol combustion is considered to be environmentally friendly. Bioethanol is the end-product of glucose fermentation, thus it is recommended to search for the factors effecting the conversion of starch from various cereals, resulting in the final yield of the production itself. The objective of this article was to compare the suitability of various cereals for bioethanol production.
