Abstract
The author discusses in the review the way and sequence along which the fundamental constituents are stored up in the developing and ripening cereal kernels. He presents the general plan of the synthesis and accumulation in the kernels of nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates lipids and growth regulators. He exposes the course of the biosynthesis of reserve proteins going on in the endosperm with emphasis being laid on the role of free and bound polysomes which take part in this process.
