Abstract
Powdery mildew caused by the fungus Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei (Bgh) is one of the most important barley disease of barley. Therefore, this work was carried out to determine the presence specific genes for resistance in genomes of the 52 varieties evaluated under the national post-registration variety testing (PDO) trials conducted by the Center for Research on Crop Varieties (COBORU) in the seedling stage. In total 3 known resistance genes, which were alone or associated with other unknown genes were determined. The mlo gene was present in genomes of 32 varieties (62.5% of the tested) and the symptoms of infection type were assessed as 0(4). Presence of the Mla3 associated with other unknown genes was postulated in 5 varieties (Magnus, MHR Filar, MHR Krajan, Poemat, RGT Gagarin). Resistance of the Bente and Sting varieties was determined by the very effective Sl-1 gene. For Kakadu it was found that the Sl-1 gene was associated with other unknown genes.
