Content and uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium by weeds in potato cultivation at different agrotechnical treatments

Abstract
The investigations were performed on samples collected in the field experiment carried out at the Experimental Station in Zawady in the years 2002–2004. The experimental factors included two soil tillage systems and seven weed control methods in potato. Total content of nitrogen was estimated according to the method recommended by Kjeldahl, that of phosphorus — according to the colorimetric method, and content of potassium using the method of atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). Before closing of potato rows the content of macronutrients in weed dry matter depended significantly on soil tillage, weed control methods and weather conditions. Prior to tubers harvest, it depended on weed control methods and weather conditions during the growing season, and in the case of phosphorus — additionally on a soil tillage system. The uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium by weeds from an area of 1 hectare depended on the experimental factors.
