Abstract
The investigations were carried out in 2004–2006 in the plots of Plant Breeding Station in Kopaszewo. Disease symptoms were recorded in each vegetation season at the hard dough stage (87 in the Tottman scale (1987)). The percentage of diseased stems ranged from 32 (Rajtar) to 85% (Deresz) in 2004, from 44 (Gniady) to 93% (Breton) in 2005, and from 8 (Cwał) to 34.5% (Rajtar) in 2006. After a 3-year period the proportion of stems with root rot and stem bases necrosis ranged from 42% in cv. Rajtar to 64% in cv. Breton. A mycological analysis of the diseased plants showed that the causal agents of these diseases in each vegetation season were fungi belonging to Fusarium spp. particulary F.culmorum, and Biopolaris sorokiniana.
