Abstract

Twenty five STS and twelve microsatellite (SSR) markers were used for the evaluation of genetic diversity among 15 inbred lines of rye. Polymorphic DNA fragments were identified in twenty STS and eleven SSR loci. Although both marker systems were able to discriminate the analyzed rye genotypes, SSRs proved to be more polymorphic which makes them more prospective for taxonomic purposes. Genetic diversity among inbred lines, assessed on the basis of all markers used in the study, ranged from 0.10 to 0.58. Dendrogram based on STS and SSR polymorphisms was generally consistent with the pedigree data.
