Abstract

Changes in potato pathogen populations of Phytophthora infestans and Alternaria spp have influenced earlier appearance and untypical symptoms of the diseases. These changes brought a need of another attitudes in protection of potato crops; the time of starting is based on prognosis and decision support system, the new fungicides have to be effective in control of the diseases and their forms in various growth stages of plant host. In trials carried out in the Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute at Bonin in 1999–2002, fluazinam and systemic mixtures: metalaxyl M + mancozeb and propamocarb + mancozeb were the most effective in control of potato late blight. The mixture of zoxamide with mancozeb and propineb showed the highest efficacy in the early blight control.
