Abstract

The vigour of seeds put to induced sprouting in spikes was investigated for the cultivars of winter triticale: Bogo, Moreno, Vero, in the years 1998–2000. Using the χ2 test, the effect of cultivars on the occurrence of variable sprouting damages of seeds was proved. Irrespective of the percentage of individual seed groups with sprouting damages, vigour and germination ability showed significant interaction between cultivars and years. Moreno, with the highest percentage of seeds without visible sprouting damages, was characterized by the greatest variability of germination ability, which ranged from 50,5% to 86,5%, and vigour indices. Similarly, great variability of the tested parameters was found for control seeds of that cultivar.
