Abstract

The paper contains results of an experiment on yielding of several sh2 sugar maize varieties in Swadzim (central-west of Poland) in the years 2003–2007. The sh2 varieties: Anava, Basin, Candle, Challenger, Comanche, Dixon, Golda, Indira, Shaker, Sheba, Shimmer, Sweet Trophy were compared, conformably to the sugar maize field trial methodology, to two su — type varieties: Jubilee and Spirit. Weather conditions in the period of investigation were convenient for sugar maize yielding. Significant inter-varietal differentiation was stated for yield of cobs as well as for number of grains per cob, cob length and share of totally grained cobs.
