Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the cellulolytic activity and virulence on eggplant (Solanum melongena) of pool of 34 strains of Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. sepedonicus (Cms). It was demonstrated that all of Cms isolates and strains produced enzyme cellulase. Increased enzyme activity caused higher virulence, expressed as intensity of symptoms on eggplant. Linear correlation between these traits was R = 0.75.
